This Week’s Streak: Streamline Your Domain(s)
You receive reminders from companies asking you to re-register your domain with them because it’s coming due but you can’t remember if that is the company you use for your domain or if it is just a solicitation. You may work with multiple companies, receive multiple monthly bills, and have to recall numerous log-ins and passwords when you deal with domain name registration, domain name hosting, email addresses, websites, and blogs, just to name a few. If you can relate to this it may be time to reconsider your online presence and streamline everything under one umbrella, with one company capable of doing all of these things.
If your business has a technology or marketing department handling any of this, inquire about what services you have and what companies are servicing them. If some services are with different companies request further research to determine what can be cost-effectively streamlined under one company’s umbrella. You may find it actually costs less money and you may even have some duplicated services you are paying for that you weren’t aware of. Streamlining also saves time and energy employees have been spending keeping tabs on each detail.
This is also a good time to revisit whether your current online presence is serving your business vision. Maybe you have been thinking about how social media might benefit your business, for example, Twitter or blogging. Is your website active and interactive or stagnant? Do you need more domains or email addresses?
Make a list of both the online technology your business is currently using and what you want to be using this year. Then merge the two lists and streamline the technological services you need to implement them as much as possible. Don’t worry if technology is not your area of expertise – there are companies willing to walk you through the steps to transfer and set up items simply for buying their services.
